David Gregory is going on and on and on about Rev. Wright on his stupid little MSNBC show. Blathering alongside him are Schultz, Buchanan,Bernard and Wolfe(this one is OK).
This press coverage is just disgusting and racist. Barack is said to (by panel) have had a moment as an "angry black man" and that he must be careful to avoid that...the suggestion was made that we don't know who we know better Wright or Obama. This is our press. Do they have any idea how they sound?

I can't help myself, the idea that we may elect a woman to the highest office in our country is a truly exciting one. We have come a long way, but we still have not reached the elusive "there". Women STILL do the bulk of child raising, STILL make only 75.3 cents to the dollar of what men make, STILL in many households do most of the cooking and cleaning, are STILL less than 20% of CEOs and are STILL fighting to hang onto reproductive freedom.

Brian Williams and Steve Capus were on Oprah today doing damage control for NBC's highly questionable decision last week to air VT killer's video's and photos. http://www.oprah.com/... Williams defended the decision based on the fact that it was good journalism, but maybe not good pubic relations. And Capus went on to say that they never discussed not showing the material, just how much of Cho's "multi-media packet" they would show. And there was the all the other networks did it defense. But where did the other networks get the images?

CNN reports "NBC News reported that Cho mailed the package at 9:01 a.m. Monday -- during the two hours between the shootings at the West Ambler Johnston Hall dormitory and Norris Hall, which left 33 people dead, including Cho, who took his own life."
MSNBC is showing pictures and video clips from this package sent by mass murderer Cho that they are calling a "multi-media press kit" containing at 1,800 word "manifesto", pictures and video clips. Pictures Cho took of himself posing with the guns, posing with a hammer...

As, I spent this morning reading Georgia10's post Things Aren't Going Swimmingly In New Orleans, and the comments, I started thinking about images and how I would love to see more of them here. What if there was a DKos section devoted to short video and pictures? Video Diaries of New Orleans, US military life in Iraq, landfills, marches,etc.?
The American Red Cross is the most highly visible relief organization assisting Katrina survivors. Americans are donating millions to the Red Cross because we care deeply about our fellow Americans who were hurt by Hurricane Katrina. Corporations have made it easy to donate. There is no shortage of Red Cross Ads on TV. Is this money getting to the Katrina survivors?
Contacted CNN today about the Tuscaloosa Red Cross. Hopefully they will send someone down there to investigate.
I've been living in the south again for the last 5 years, and I realize I have been very naïve about the powerful continuance of racism here. At the beginning of this month I saw a brutal disregard for Americans at the Superdome and the Convention Center in NOLA. Hearing about the racist attitudes at the Tuscaloosa Red Cross is just sickening.
I got a call from a horrified Red Cross volunteer serving in Alabama today. There is racism at the Red Cross and it is affecting how they are giving away assistance. The Red Cross in Tuscaloosa is telling workers to deny vouchers to as many people as possible because " these people are trying to double dip. It has been four weeks since Katrina. They should be back on their feet by now. They just want a hand-out.". A local Red Cross official went on to say, "You have to look at them in the eyes and you'll know if they are telling the truth. Keep probing, keep probing, they will back off if they are lying." A Red Cross official told an upset west coast volunteer today, "A lot of these people are poor because it is their choice. Don't you know that AL and MS are the poorest states in the nation? These people are always looking for a hand-out. They will stand for hours in the heat and humidity if they think they can get a hand-out. These people are totally different from we are. We just have to see if these people can learn to live like we do."
